The "Serie V Melanio" was the 2012 Cigar of the Year in Cigar Snob, it has received a 95 rating from Cigar Aficionado as well as being named one of the Top 25 Cigars of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2012.The "Serie V Melanio" like the Oliva "Serie V' is full flavored yet smooth. The long filler tobaccos used in the "Melanio" are a blend of Oliva Nicaraguan habano that emphasizes tobacco from the Jalapa region, an area known for a more nuanced leaf than other famous tobacco growing regions of Nicaragua like Esteli or Condega. This meticulously aged and cured Jalapa blend winds up producing a distinctive flavorful smoke. The wrapper is a proprietary seed grown by the Oliva family in Ecuador.
