Eventually he married his sweetheart Mary who bore him two sons, Nick Jr. and William. Nick Jr. took great interest in cigar making by watching his father and grandfather days on end making cigars. His fascination translated to interest and even though he wanted to learn the art of cigar making, his father and grandfather wanted him to pursue a different career and therefore he joined the United States Navy. Thereafter he went on to work for the Federal Government as an Air Traffic Controller in Miami, Florida, however his interest for cigars had not deterred and that is when he decided to quit his day job to produce cigars instead. Nick Jr. employed his wife who was his first employee at the time and thereafter he employeed seven rollers and with the help of both his father and grandfather, he had produced 9,700 cigars within the first years and for five years he continued to make cigars.
