La Flor Dominicana

La Flor Dominicana is Dominican by origin. These exquisite cigars come in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a double Dominican Republic binder and filler. Depending on the vitola, they cost around $6 to $10 per stick which is the handmade price. I reckon their best is the Ligero Cabinet Oscuro. It is by Litto Gomez. It has been around for some time now. It boasts of a full body regime with a semi maduro orientation. The relatively new trabajando procedure is used to come up with the oscuro color plus the full bodied flavor outline. This innovative method is applied to the aged leaves of the ligero. Unfortunately the procedure is top secret only known to the company?s top brass. La Flor Dominicana cigars are available in numbered vitolas- L500- 60 X 5 ?, L400- 54X 5 ?, L300- 50 X 5 ?, L250- 48 X 5 ? AND L200- 40 X 4 7/8. The only different vitola is the Mysterio which is touted to be a figurado.

Cabinet Oscuro from La Flor Dominicana comes with fillers which are grown in their own farm which is in La Canella in the Dominican Republic. The wrapper happens to be the oiliest I have ever seen. It is also extremely shiny and amazingly beautiful with pleasant texture and fascinating teeth. Subjecting the Cabinet Oscuro to a little squeeze revealed a well packed cigar with obviously no soft spots whatsoever. Just like other La Flor Dominicana cigars, the Cabinet Oscuro exhibited beautifully done flavors from the foot to the head. The pre-light aromas were indeed sweet and inviting. They have a draw which is very easy and level characterized by extremely mild tobacco taste with an earthy orientation. A punch cut helps in accessing the draw.

Once lit, La Flor Dominicana cigars exhibit an overall spicy start which is slow to build. The smoke is a bit stringy if you may term it so and gently disperses away into the air. The resulting ash is light grey with some dark undertones and super highlights which come across as awfully firm. The cigar mid has interesting pepper characteristics which make for a very rich midway experience. It is however interesting to note that the peppery flavor never quite disappears nor does overwhelm in any sense of the word but hangs around in a very balanced and subtle way. The finish is a bit spicy and dry.

This cigar (La Flor ? Ligero Cabinet Oscuro) is for those times when you just want to relax with your loved ones and while away the evening. It can be said to be of a full to upper medium body and is best enjoyed after a sumptuous dinner. It is cigar line that will definitely provide life to a dull party by exciting the quorum who knows an exquisite and delicious cigar when they see one. The oily wrapper is its best characteristic I must say. La Flor Dominicana has come up with a really elegant cigar line fit for royalty.
